Accuracy matters more than anything else on HousyTools. If you think a figure, formula or result is wrong, or a calculator is not working, please tell us. Every report is read and checked.
How to Report an Error
Email zahidawais183@gmail.com with “Error report” in the subject line.
What Details to Send
For a wrong figure or formula
- The link to the page.
- The figure or sentence you think is wrong, copied exactly.
- What you believe the correct figure is.
- Your source, such as a link to Ofgem, GOV.UK, a manufacturer data sheet or your energy bill (please hide your account number and address).
For a broken or odd calculator result
- The link to the calculator.
- The exact values you entered, and whether you used metric or imperial, pounds or euros.
- The result you got and the result you expected.
- Your device and browser, for example “Android phone, Chrome” or “Windows laptop, Edge”.
- A screenshot if you can.
What Happens Next
- We confirm we have it. We aim to reply within 2 working days.
- We check against the source. We compare the figure with the original source, such as Ofgem, GOV.UK or the manufacturer data sheet, and rerun the calculator with your inputs.
- We fix it. If we got it wrong, we correct the page or the calculator and test it again, including on a mobile phone.
- We update the “Checked” date. The page shows the month it was rechecked and the sources used.
- We log the change. Every correction is recorded in our change log with the date and what changed. Significant corrections are also noted on the page.
- We tell you the outcome. If your report did not need a change, we explain why and point to the source we used.
We do not publish your name or email with a correction unless you ask us to credit you.
Before You Report
Many differences come from inputs rather than errors. Check that the coverage, rate or size you entered matches your tin, bill or data sheet, and that the unit switch is set as you expect. Default values are examples, and energy presets use the Ofgem price cap averages, which may differ from your own tariff. The formulas are explained on how our calculators work, and our checking process is in the editorial policy.
