This policy explains what personal data HousyTools collects when you use housytools.com, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Who We Are
HousyTools (housytools.com) is run by HousyTools editorial team, who is the data controller for this website. You can contact us about privacy at zahidawais183@gmail.com.
Our Calculators Run in Your Browser
The calculators on HousyTools work entirely in your web browser. The measurements, meter readings, rates and other values you type into a calculator are not sent to our server, and we do not store them. When you close or reload the page, they are gone.
What Data We Collect
Server and security logs
Our website is hosted by Hostinger. Like almost every web server, it automatically records technical information when you visit a page: your IP address, browser type, device, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. We use this only to keep the site running, secure and free of abuse. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests. Hostinger keeps these logs for a limited period under its own retention policy.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, name if you give it, and anything in your message. We use this only to reply and, for error reports, to fix the problem. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in answering your message. We keep emails for up to 2 years and then delete them, unless we need them longer to deal with an ongoing issue.
Comments
If comments are open on a page and you leave one, WordPress stores the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, your IP address and browser details. Your email address is never shown publicly. You can ask us to remove a comment at any time.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Ordinary visitors who are not logged in receive no advertising or tracking cookies from HousyTools at present. The technologies we use are:
| Tool | What it does | Cookies for visitors |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress | Runs the website | Only for logged in editors, or to remember your details if you leave a comment and choose this |
| LiteSpeed Cache | Stores copies of pages so they load faster | None for ordinary visitors. It may set a technical cookie for logged in users or commenters so they see the right version of a page |
| Rank Math SEO | Manages page titles, descriptions, sitemaps and structured data | None for visitors |
| Google Search Console | Shows us how our pages appear in Google search results | None. It reports aggregated search data collected by Google, not data from our pages |
Analytics in future
We may add Google Analytics or a similar service to understand which pages are useful. If we do, analytics cookies will be set only after you agree through a cookie banner, and you will be able to change your choice at any time. We will update this policy before any such service goes live.
Who We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site, under contracts that protect it:
- Hostinger, our web host, which stores the website and server logs.
- Our email provider, which stores messages you send us.
- Google, only if you are using Search Console data or, in future, analytics you have consented to.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it.
International Transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
How We Protect Your Data
The site is served over HTTPS, access to the website admin is restricted and protected by strong passwords, and software is kept up to date. We collect as little personal data as we can.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct data that is wrong
- ask us to delete your data
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- ask for your data in a portable format, where this applies
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To use any of these rights, email zahidawais183@gmail.com. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK data protection regulator. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
HousyTools is aimed at adults managing a home. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We will update this policy when our setup changes, for example if we add analytics or advertising. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
